Comcast virus protection free download options from Xfinity
August 29, 2011
Comcast virus protection – If you’re reading this post, then you probably own your own computer, and use it to access the internet. The problem with most home computers is that they are extremely susceptible to viruses, spyware, spam and other invasions right out of the box.
That is not stated just to scare you, though it to at least alert you a bit, but there are things you can do to protect yourself and your PC. Comcast virus protection is just one such step you could take to help protect your computer from the evil doers out there who would seek to harm others. Comcast is re-branding itself under the guise of the Xfinity logo, so perhaps you know this brand a bit better.
Comcast virus protection is a free service offered to any customer who subscribes to any level of Comcast’s high-speed internet. Not sure if that means you? Well, you’d know if you were a Comcast internet subscriber, because you’d have a cable modem hooked up to your computer, and that would provide you with your internet service.
There are several levels of service that Comcast provides for their internet services, but if you are a member of any of them, then you are eligible to download the virus protection package that comes free with the service. Currently, Comcast virus protection is being provided by the Norton Symantec group, and to download the free software simply visit the comcast.net homepage and click on the “security” link. From there, you will be guided through the extremely simple process of adding the virus protection software onto your PC.

If you currently have other software installed on your computer, then the Norton suite will detect it and help you remove it, especially if you are using Mcafee antivirus plus 2010. Norton and McAfee are mortal enemies in the virus protection game, and Norton will gladly help you to remove any antivirus software that is running on your PC. This is a good thing, as it’s highly recommended that you only run one software package at a time devoted to virus protection. The programs may conflict, and they most certainly would slow your PC down to unusable speeds.
Though Comcast now uses Norton, this is a recent development, and a switch that kind of makes Comcast look like hypocrites in the eyes of the competition. For years, Comcast used Mcafee antivirus plus, and the software ran just fine. Personally, I loved it, as the software didn’t slow down my computer at all, and seemed to be about as user-friendly as a software package could be. Then, I was forced to switch because I do enjoy free virus protection, as opposed to be paying out the wazzoo for it. The switch was as painless as it could have possibly been, and things have been just fine since. My Mozilla Firefox browser windows take a little longer to pop open, but there’s always a trade-off.
All in all, a fine little package, and it seems that comcast has hit another home-run with their internet service, but I’ve always said that they were second to none when it comes to internet service. The phone service is for crap however. Comcast digital voice, or CDV as it’s known, is something to be avoided at all costs. Trust me, I used to troubleshoot their services in a local call center, and I spent most of my time explaining to customers why their Phone service was off-line, apologizing for it, then scheduling a service truck to go out and solve the problem, often for the second or third time.
Comcast internet customer protection is serious business, and thus it is big business. Comcast security has gone to great lengths to provide its customers with the best possible virus protection packages available on the net, and you could certainly do a lot worse than this option in the current market.
The Comcast virus protection FREE DOWNLOAD is just that… a free download, and that cannot be stressed enough. Any customer taking advantage of the Comcast antivirus service will save $120-150 in expenses and the software is worth the time.
